The staff at A Career in Teaching – EPP is committed to sending school districts well trained and prepared candidates. In order to keep that commitment, it is necessary that candidates in A Career in Teaching – EPP attend all training sessions. The only reason a person will be excused from training is an emergency situation (e.g. death in the immediate family, sickness, accident, natural phenomenon). It is also necessary that all candidates attend the entire day of training; therefore, it is required that all participants arrive on time and remain for the entire time of training.

VERIFICATION:
I have answered all questions truthfully and to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I give permission to A Career in Teaching – EPP to release the aforementioned information to prospective employers. I understand that I will have to pay a Pre-Training Academy fee of $700.00. I understand the cost of the program is $3,800.00 to be paid using a student loan @ 5.2% made payable over a 10 year period, or deducted @ $380.00 x 10 months during your first year employed as a teacher. I understand that there are also separate fees as required by the State Board for Educator Certification. These fees include but are not limited to: TExES Exam(s); Finger Printing; Certification; and district mentor fees. I understand that A Career in Teaching – EPP reserves the right to change, modify, add or delete any aspect of the above written application, to include fees, schedules, times, and curriculum. I understand that classes are mandatory and any excused absences, must be pre-approved by the Program Director and or Instructor(s).

FIELD EXPERIENCE:
Teacher Candidates will be required to complete a minimum of 30 interactive field experiences hours; to include observing effective classroom teachers, as well as campus and or student interaction ( attend PTA meeting, attend extra-curricular or co-curricular activity, read to a group of students). Field experiences must be completed prior to accepting a teaching position, unless hired at the beginning of the school year. If hired at beginning of the school year, interns will have to satisfy field experiences in conjunction with the Pre-Service Academy.

STANDARD CERTIFICATE: In order for teacher interns to be eligible for a Standard Teaching Certificate, teacher interns must satisfy the following; Passage of all TExES/ExCET exams; attend all training sessions; complete 300 clock hours of training, Phase 1 and Phase 2, be mentored by a retired teacher or administrator (Field Supervisor - minimum 4 visits), and receive a letter of recommendation for certification by the campus Principal and Field Supervisor.
